Among the 40 km sand beach, quiet and lined with palm trees, in the south-east and west is Vietnam’s only beach with a sunset: Bau Truong or Long Beach. The coast north of the main city Duong Dong is rockier. Beaches are often undeveloped and can only be reached via dust tracks. Some are even restricted military zones. The water is crystal clear and makes the island one of Vietnam’s best diving spots. Underwater visibility is up to 50 m.
