Itinerary
Arrival in Saigon. Transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon: a first encounter with the bustling city.
In the morning we explore the city partly on foot, partly on cyclos: Notre Dame Cathedral, Main Post Office, City Hall, Ben Thanh Market. We have lunch together with the kids of the Cau Kho youth centre (founded by a French Dominican monk). This home for street kids shows us another side of Vietnam. In the afternoon, the bus takes us to the Mekong Delta. We stay at Chuong Duong Hotel**, a very hotel on the river side, beautifully located at the upper Mekong.
In the early morning, begins our three-hour boat trip to the four river islands “Dragon”, “Phoenix”, “Unicorn” and “Tortoise”. We visit family businesses producing coconut candy, honey, rice wine and coconut silverware. We savor exotic fruits directly from the tree and listen to traditional songs. After lunch we return to Saigon.
Saigon - Danang
We fly to Danang with Vietnam Airlines. Our first stop is at the Marble Mountains. We make a stop at the Marble Mountains. After a steep hike we arrive at the Rock Pagoda. We have a fantastic panorama of the other four Marble Mountains and China Beach. We explore various caves that have been important places of worship since the Cham period. Then the bus brings us to Hoi An, the old port town of the Cham. Hotel check in.
Walking the old city: Japanese Bridge, merchants houses from the 16th and 18th century, wood workshops, Chinese temples, community houses and a silk spinning factory (Hoi An is widely known for its excellent tailors). In the afternoon, we go on an exciting river tour to Kim Bong Island (known for having the best wood carvers) and watch fishermen going about their business.
Together with our friendly Honda drivers we make an unforgettable tour into the rural surroundings of Hoi An. Here time seems to have stopped. We spend the afternoon at the beach if the weather is fine or go shopping in the old city center.
We travel along the coast to Quy Nhon (300 km) where we arrive in the course of the afternoon. We spend the rest of the day at the beach.
We continue our unforgettable trip down the coast to Nha Trang (250 km). We stop at the most attractive panoramas and take a cool swim.
Program on request, e.g. a trip to the Ba Ho Waterfalls, a visit to hot mud and mineral springs, a tour to the “Maggia” River with a barbecue in the open nature or beach action at the sweeping sand beach…
Today we have a private fishing boat for the whole day. The memorable journey through the insular world off Nha Trang brings us to the four most beautiful islands. The visit to the Tri Nguyen Aquarium (breed, food, ornamental und fighting fish, tortoises und corals) and lunch at a fishing village, that can only be reached in swimming baskets make for an unforgettable trip.
A motorbike tour to the beautiful location of the Suoi Do Pagoda brings us the rural surroundings of Nha Trang. Most probably, the nuns invite us to a vegetarian lunch. After a siesta, we visit the oldest traditional house of the province. A short walk through fruit gardens (mango, durian, papaya, cacao, lemon, orange, rambutan, banana and pineapple trees, depending on the season). Return and short stop at a mattress factory.
City tour on rented motobikes: Yersin Museum, Big White Buddha, Po Nagar Cham Towers, Hon Chong Rock. Lunch at the best seafood restaurant of the nearby fishing village. In the late afternoon, Vietnam Airlines brings us back to Saigon. Transfer to the hotel.
Free time. Our trip ends with the transfer to the airport.
